Written by the pastor of a large emerging chuch in Seattle, this book chronicles the growth of a small meeting of believers with a likeminded passion for evangelism into a megachurch with a passion for evangelism.
Mark does a good job in passing on his passion for evangelism. He views the primary function of any given church to be local missions. He has built his church with this as the foremost guiding principal.
I'm not quite sure who the audience is for this book. Much of the book is interspersed with advice on how to grow a church which would be intended for pastors. However, the application questions at the end of each chapter are written for lay members. He appears to enjoy throwing in little statements that will catch the average evangelical (me included) and make them cringe.
All in all, it's a quick and enjoyable read that will challenge your view of the church, challenge your view on Christian liberty, challenge your view on culture, and rub you the wrong way!
